The Tindall Foundation has a unique model whereby Local Donation Managers distribute donations on their behalf in their respective local and faith communities.

Geyser Community Foundation is the local donation manager for the Rotorua, Taupō and surrounding areas. Each year, Local Donation Managers give away approximately $3.5 million of The Tindall Foundation funds.  Donations to community organisations range from $500 to $15,000.

Stephen and Margaret Tindall founded the Tindall Foundation in 1994. Today, they support over 700 organisations a year, giving annual donations of around $10 million to support a stronger Aotearoa, and over the past 26 years have given more than $195 million in line with their strategic giving areas. The idea was to offer a hand up, not a hand out, to families and communities, a philosophy that continues to this day.

The Tindall Foundation understand that people and communities generally know what works best for them, that’s why they work in partnership with funders, councils, government departments, iwi and philanthropic leaders to make the greatest difference.
