Dave and Bernadine’s passion was to give young people the opportunity to excel by developing an interest and passion in a supported way.
Another passion was music, specifically Jazz, Blues and Rock ‘n Roll, which led them to
gift this putea to the Western Heights High School Music Department.
A coach builder and engineer by trade, Dave was a successful business person,
a bit of an entrepreneur, and Life Member of the Sulphur City Rod and Custom Club.
He grew up in Auckland where his father was the Mayor of Waitakere and ran his own building company.
Bernadine was of Te Arawa descent, a past loyal pupil and Teachers Aid at Western Heights High School, and a long term employee of Guardian Trust. She was a great support to her husband in
business and in life, and really enjoyed being involved with young and old.
They enjoyed a good life together. Both were well-travelled and loved nothing better than socialising with family and friends.
Sadly, David and Bernadine have now passed but their legacy to benefit the Music Department of Western Heights High School will live on forever. Since 2018, an ongoing annual gift has been made from the Fund to the School’s Music Department.
